We are delighted to be able to offer out our own race winning Mazda RX8 race car for race or track day hire. This car has been built to MSUK specification and was raced as our in house race car very successfully in the 2023 WSSC championship picking up 2 class wins, 3 runners up and 2 3rd place finishes, en route to claiming a class and overall 2nd in the championship - all with a very average pilot in the seat ;-)

The car itself is easy to drive and very forgiving. The build is basic and utilised a mix of affordable and optimised OEM parts meaning maintenance and repairs, should they be needed are affordable and we all know a car that's cheap and easy to fix is always fast. 

This car will fit beautifully again in Class 2 of the WSSC championship as well as others such as the CMSCC series, 750mc road sports and others. We can make minor modifications and changed to suit other series, if required.

The RX8 is a fantastic car and a pure joy to drive, I have loved every second driving it! The chassis is a work of art and for all it lacks in outright grunt, it more than makes up for in high speed cornering ability, agility and braking performance. The little 13b rotary sings at over 9,000 rpm adding to the experience of driving a real striped back race car that on its sticky slicks will put a huge smile on your face in the mid and high speed corners, then proceed to nearly pull your face off on the brakes.

All prices shown are for car and personal hire only. Any track booking or events fees are to be paid directly to the circuits or series governing bodies.

A. Basic car hire

Basic car hire will allow the hire of a race prepared car on a day rate basis. This is our most basic offer and is for test and track days only. The price indicated is for the hire of the car only. You will be responsible for the collection and return of the vehicle to our workshop in Newport, South Wales. As both testing and track days are non competitive, we do not offer any damage grace and expect the car returned in the condition it was taken. Any damage sustained is chargeable and all parts and labour to repair will be the responsibility of the named driver. The car will come on Slick Goodyear Eagle TC01C compound tyres with 20 litres of fuel. You will have to provide all additional fuel used. Additional tyres and wet weather tyres are an optional add on. A security deposit, with ID, proof of address and valid card details will be required for basic car hire.

B. Arrive and drive

The arrive and drive packages provide just that. You arrive at the designated circuit, drive the provided race car and simply go home when you are finished.

The arrive and drive is split between track days/testing and race events.

B1. For all arrive and drive packages, the car will be delivered to the circuit by us with a spares package, additional fuel and tyres, and an on hand mechanic to monitor, maintain and if needed, repair the car throughout the event. All you have to do is drive!

B2. For testing and track days, the no damage grace is in effect and any damage incurred will be a chargeable repair for parts and labour at our standard workshop rates.

B3. For race arrive and drive hire, we offer a degree of damage grace. As we ourselves are racers and want to see our cars competing, we allow minor damage such as paint scrapes, minor dents and light panel damage. However, heavy damage will still be chargeable, regardless of fault.

B4. In the event of a chargeable repair sustained at a race event, the workshop labour rate will be charged at 50% and all panels or replacement parts will be charged at trade cost price.

C. Tyres and consumables

C1. Hire will include 1 set of tyres. Any extra tyres required will carry an additional charge. Cars being hired for competition use may require control tyres of full slicks. This will be discussed on a tailored per hire basis and accommodation of a control tyre may be reflected in the hire cost.

C2. The default tyres will be Goodyear 265/66/18 full slick c compound. The default tyre for competition use requiring list tyres will be Accelera 651s, with upgrades available upon discussion. Full Wets will be Available with a small surcharge. we can also fit and remove your own tyres if required.

C3. Fuel
The car will come with 20 litres of fuel provided. This is yours to use on us. Any additional fuel needed will be the responsibility of the customer. With arrive and drive packages, we will have additional fuel available for purchase at pump rate. All fuel used and provided will be Momentum 99octain.

C4. Brake pads

All cars will be delivered to an event with brake pads carrying no more than 20% wear. All pads will be pre bedded and ready for race use. Pad wear is not chargeable and pad use is included in the hire price.

The car, like any race car, will be disassembled after every use for inspection and reassembled prior to its next outing, with any worn or damaged parts replaced. It will have fresh fluids and lubrication oils for every event. At all events, the car will arrive in sound condition, fully setup and race ready.

D. The car

D1. Mechanical Failure
Though every step is taken to ensure the car is as safe and reliable as possible, in motorsport, mechanical failures can happen even at the highest levels. If in the event the car suffers a mechanical issue while in your possession at an event, we will be on hand to attempt to repair the car as soon as possible and get you back out on track.

D1.1 If a mechanical failure happens on a track or test day that takes longer than 2 hours to repair, a 20% hire price refund will be offered (arrive and drive only).

D1.2 If a mechanical failure occurs on a race day that results in missing 1 session, a 50% refund will be given on hire price.

D1.3 In the event of a terminal failure resulting in little to no running (under 15mins generally), a full hire price refund will be given. Unfortunately, we CANNOT compensate or reimburse trackday costs, race entry fees or travel costs.

D1.4 We can offer no mechanical failure cover for basic hire as we will have no mechanic on site to attempt repair or verify the circumstances. Basic hire is entirely at your own risk.

All people wishing to hire a race car do so entirely at their own risk. Motorsport is dangerous and carries a high risk of serious injury or death. Upon agreeing to the terms of our hire, you agree that we take no responsibility for any injuries that may be sustained in the event of an accident on circuit under any circumstance. By agreeing to the terms and conditions, you have also agreed that you have satisfied yourself with the condition of the car and all safety measures put in place.

E. Legal notice

E1. Insurance
We STRONGLY recommend that before use an insurance policy is put in place. While we do not offer insurance, there are many companies that offer track and race insurance on a per event basis. Any insurance policy is between the accredited insurance broker and yourself only. It is your responsibility to provide yourself with any cover you may feel you need. A basic list of some insurers can be found below in section E4.

E2. Rocketdog Racing DO NOT offer insurance on any level, all agreements are between ourselves and the customer. Any fees or damages will have to be settled by yourself and claimed back from your insurance. We will not deal with insurance companies on your behalf.

E3. All cars will have a pre set purchase value upon the point of hire. This will be the requested amount in the event of a car being beyond economical repair.
